MUNICH - The latest features added to the European Patent Office - EPO’s popular Deep Tech Finder are making it even more useful for investors to find investment-ready deep tech startups and vice versa, a press release stated by EPO.

Launched last October 2023, the free online tool combines business profiles and funding histories for thousands of European startups with their portfolios of European patent applications and/or granted patents. To date, the Deep Tech Finder includes profiles from over 8 000 startups, categorized into over thirty different industry segments and over fifty different technology fields, ranging from smart industries to green technologies to oncology and now also quantum computing.

In response to positive user feedback, the new features added to the tool this week give users even better access to essential funding and patent information on European deep tech startups:

The results of searches against particular industry and technology filters can be displayed either as a list or by location on a map.

The patent portfolios for selected startups clearly show the status each of their patent applications (pending, granted, withdrawn or refused) and with the indication if a Unitary Patent was granted.

Easy to export the results with a single download (CSV file).

The Deep Tech Finder blends the worlds of business information with the EPO’s comprehensive patent data, including the legal status of every application we handle. Future releases of the tool will include more types of patent holders beyond deep tech startups and even more technology fields.

EPO is continuously improving the Deep Tech Finder, both in usability and data coverage, with more updates on the way later in 2024.
