LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced in a press release that it has extended the deadline for submitting applications to the NextGen@ICANN program for the ICANN79 Community Forum. The closing date for applications is now November 3, 2023.

ICANN wishes to hear from university students in the North American region who are interested in the future of the Internet and participating in the ICANN79 Community Forum. ICANN79 is scheduled to be in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from March 2-7, 2024.

What is the NextGen@ICANN?

The NextGen@ICANN Program provides opportunities for university students to better understand how ICANN contributes to the technical governance of the Internet via the multi-stakeholder model. Through an immersive program, participants will learn about topics such as the Internet ecosystem, Internet governance, and policy development at ICANN. The program also provides insight into how to engage and contribute to the work that supports the stability, resiliency, and reliability of the Internet.

The program runs in conjunction with ICANN Public Meetings and targets students who are 18–30 years old and live in the region hosting the ICANN meeting. Participants are required to attend courses and presentations six weeks prior to the meeting and are expected to prepare a 10-minute presentation during the meeting. Experienced mentors will support participants throughout the program.

Deadline

The NextGen@ICANN program application window will remain open until  November 3, 2023. Successful candidates will be announced on November 24, 2023 on the ICANN’s website.
