LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) organization (org) announced it will host two webinars on the WHOIS Disclosure System design paper. The webinar dates are:

Webinar #1: Tuesday, 4 October from 15:30-17:00 UTC

Webinar #2: Tuesday, 11 October from 1:00-3:30 UTC

ICANN org is hosting these webinars to expand on discussions at the ICANN75 Annual General Meeting and to respond to requests from the community, including from the Registrar Stakeholder Group, to learn more about the proposed design. All are welcome to join this session.

The design paper outlines a system that would simplify the process for submitting and receiving requests for nonpublic generic top-level-domain (gTLD) registration data for both requestors and contracted parties. The paper includes assumptions and risks, system mockups, an estimated timeline for implementing the design, and associated costs. It is intended to inform ICANN discussions and Board consideration of the 18 recommendations for creating a system for standardized access/disclosure, which were approved by the Generic Names Supporting Organization Council. The Expedited Policy Development Process on the Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data Phase 2 (EPDP Phase 2) team developed the recommendations.

Since the publication of the design paper on 13 September, ICANN org has received requests from ICANN's contracted parties interested in understanding how the WHOIS Disclosure System would work, both for registrars who would receive disclosure requests, as well as potential requestors. All interested community members are invited to attend the webinars.

Registration is coming soon for the webinar on Tuesday, 11 October from 0100-0330 UTC.
