LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced in a press release that it has extended the deadline to submit applications for the NextGen@ICANN program for the ICANN74 Policy Forum Meeting. The closing date for applications is now April 1, 2022.

ICANN invites university students living and studying in Europe who are interested in the future of the Internet to apply for the NextGen@ICANN program and to participate in the ICANN74 Policy Forum. ICANN74 is currently scheduled as a hybrid meeting in The Hague, Netherlands from 13 to 16 June 2022. If ICANN74 is held as a virtual meeting, all NextGen@ICANN program activities will be conducted online.

What is NextGen@ICANN?
The NextGen@ICANN program provides opportunities for university students to better understand ICANN's role in the technical governance of the Internet and its unique multistakeholder model. Through an immersive program, participants will learn about topics such as the Internet ecosystem, Internet governance, and policy development at ICANN. They will also gain insight into how to contribute to the work that supports the stability, resiliency, and reliability of the Internet.

The program runs in conjunction with ICANN Public Meetings and is open to students who are 18-30 years old and who live in the region hosting the meeting. Participants will attend courses and presentations six weeks before the ICANN Public Meeting. Experienced mentors will support and guide the participants throughout the program.

The NextGen@ICANN program application window will remain open until April 1, 2022. Successful candidates will be announced on April 15, 2022 on the ICANN website.
