Abu-Ghazaleh: Donald Trump is expected to Use War to Stay in Power

Special to AG-IP News Agency

AMMAN – Well-known economist, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), talked about several scenarios for the development of events in the United States after the Electoral College’s certification of President-elect, Joe Biden’s victory, which Donald Trump continues to refuse.

In a new episode of his weekly program (The World to Where?) on Russia Today (RT), Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said that the US election system is very complicated, stating that although America is a great democracy, its electoral system is the worst in the world.

According to the American System, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out, the United States Senators should meet to ratify Biden's victory, yet, he brought up the possibility of disagreement among senators on who actually should be the next president.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to some indications, including President Trump tweets and a CNN report, that he, Trump, will not leave the White House on the inauguration day unless forced to do so.

However, Dr. abu Ghazaleh did not rule out the possibility that Trump may surprise us by declaring his acceptance of Biden’s victory in order to preserve the unity of the American people. But the 2020 US presidential elections are not over yet Abu Ghazaleh added. "Indicators show that we have a conflict; if no agreement was reached between Trump and Biden, the American people will speak, and they will speak loudly, and solve this issue. We might witness a civil war in all American states, and if that happened, Donald Trump would be obliged to deal with this matter. In other word, he will not hand over power on the scheduled time of January 21, 2020."

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said that Trump might resort to the military option to remain in his position as the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces, saying: "In the present time, all talk is about a military clash between China and the United States, not a full fledged war between the two countries’ armies.” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh had previously expected such a confrontation to happen before or during the US presidential election, but he explained that it was delayed due to the complications of the US presidential elections.

As an evidence of a possible military confrontation between the two countries Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to indicative statements by US officials. Nevertheless, he expressed his hope that the current critical crisis, which he described as disastrous, may have to be positively overcome, and that the United States and China would find a way to settle their disputes peacefully.
