‘Abu-Ghazaleh’ Participates in Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission’s Discussion Session Updating its Five-Year Strategy

AMMAN - Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) organized a panel session to discuss the Commission’s updates of its 2020-2025 strategy, in line with the government priorities and global best practices. 

The session was held with the participation of representatives of the concerned bodies from the civil society institutions and the private sector to identify areas of joint cooperation. The session also aimed at ensuring the implementation of the strategy projects which constitute an extension of the National Strategy for Integrity and Anti-Corruption (2017-2025). 

During the session, which Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) took part in, JIACC affirmed that its work methodology is based on key pillars: integrity, prevention, incident anticipation and law enforcement. 
JIACC representatives who participated in the session pointed out that the Commission seeks to update and develop the main pillars of the strategy especially integrity and prevention, by reinforcing the effectiveness of preventive measures against corruption at the national level.

The participants discussed a number of projects, including standards and indicators, as well as measures for identifying legal loopholes in national applicable legislation to ensure compatibility with the UN Convention against Corruption. They also discussed: Risks Identification, Assessment projects, Raising Awareness of Educational Institutions (universities and schools) and Partnership with Civil Society Institutions, Private Sector and Nation’s Elite project. 

Representative of TAG.Global, Mr. Fadi Daoud, emphasized TAG.Global’s full support to the efforts exerted by the JIACC, putting all its resources at the service of the Commission He offered to host and moderate awareness and educational sessions at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF) that target all segments and sectors of the society, as well as to help the Commission promote its awareness messages through TAG.Global’s pages on social media networks and platforms.  

In addition, the participants stated that the National Strategy for Integrity and Anti-Corruption aims to keep pace with the ongoing changes, transformation and development the Commission has experienced within the framework of comprehensive national reform, which could not be achieved except through good governance, consolidation of goals, team-work spirit and enhancing citizen-state partnership based on the principle of transparency and accountability. 

It is worth mentioning that HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of TAG.Global, was honored by His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein appointing him a member of the Royal Integrity Commission, which formulated the National Integrity Charter. During his membership, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh reviewed the world’s integrity systems, laws and regulations to come up with the best standards that serve the Commission’s goals and objectives. 

 Accordingly, TAG.Global reasserts that institutions should protect themselves through an internal system that ensures the quality control and workplace safety and security procedures to maintain independence of internal audit process.

The session was attended by Rasheed Transparency International (TI-Jordan), Jordanian Businessmen Association, Amman Chamber of Commerce, Amman Chamber of Industry, Jordanian Association of Certified Public Accountants, Jordan National Society of Consumer Protection, Jordanian Society for Human Rights, General Union of Voluntary Societies and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation.
