WASHINGTON, DC - The Software Alliance (BSA) welcomed a House Judiciary Committee vote to report out of committee the Innovation Act (H.R. 3309) after a markup that helped sharpen the bill’s focus on curbing abusive patent litigation while preserving critical incentives to innovate.

“BSA commends Chairman Goodlatte and the Members of the Committee for refining the Innovation Act and moving it forward. Today’s committee vote was an important step toward a major victory for innovation,” said BSA Government Relations Director Tim Molino. “Everyone agrees abusive patent litigation is an unacceptable drag on the economy. This bill reduces the financial incentive for bad actors to engage in it. We look forward to working with Congress to continue improving the bill as it advances through the legislative process toward final enactment.”
