LOS ANGELES, CA - MMRGlobal Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary MyMedicalRecords, Inc. (collectively, "MMR" or the "Company"), announced in a press release that it has been issued US Patent No. 8,498,883 (the "883 Patent") entitled, "Method for Providing a User with a Service for Accessing and Collecting Prescriptions."

The 883 Patent issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, July 30th, has 28 claims which are directed toward providing a user with the ability to access and manage prescriptions online by providing features that include sending prescriptions to a pharmacy, accessing prescriptions from a pharmacy, scheduling prescription refills, sending reminders regarding prescription refills including by text or email, and identifying adverse drug interactions by analyzing prescription medications. The Company also announced that now that the 833 Patent is issued, it will immediately evaluate what existing pending litigation should be amended to include the assertion of infringement of the 883 Patent and, separately, will begin efforts to monetize the 883 Patent with potential licensees. MMR has served the complaint recently filed against Quest Diagnostics.

With the issuance of the 833 Patent, MMR's health information technology patent portfolio consists of eight issued US patents, including US Patent Nos. 8,301,466; 8,352,287; 8,352,288; 8,121,855; 8,117,646; 8,117,045; and 8,321,240, as well as additional applications and continuation applications involving inventions pertaining to Personal Health Records, Patient Portals and other Electronic Health Record systems. MMR is a leading provider of Personal Health Record (PHR) products and services, which it sells direct to consumers, healthcare professionals, affinity and membership organizations, and employers.

MMR's Personal Health Record service was built to allow patients to make the choice of who can access their most private and personal medical records and other important documents. Based on trends offering consumers the ability to manage prescriptions online, MMR believes the 883 Patent to be a significant addition to its existing US patent portfolio and is extremely relevant to MMR's business of selling its products and services and/or licensing its patented intellectual property to healthcare professionals and others including retail pharmacies.

MMRGlobal Inc., through its wholly-owned operating subsidiary, MyMedicalRecords, Inc., provides secure and easy-to-use online Personal Health Records ("PHRs") and electronic safe deposit box storage solutions, serving consumers, healthcare professionals, employers, insurance companies, financial institutions, retail pharmacies, and professional organizations and affinity groups. The MyMedicalRecords PHR enables individuals and families to access their medical records and other important documents, such as birth certificates, passports, insurance policies and wills, anytime from anywhere using the Internet. MyMedicalRecords is built on proprietary, patented technologies to allow documents, images and voicemail messages to be transmitted and stored in the system using a variety of methods, including fax, phone, or file upload without relying on any specific electronic medical record platform to populate a user's account. MMR's professional offering, MMRPro, is designed to give physicians' offices an easy and cost-effective solution to digitizing paper-based medical records and sharing them with patients through an integrated patient portal.
