Boise ID, US - Kount Inc., a leading operational provider of fraud prevention technology, announced in a press release the award of yet another patent relating to its device fingerprinting technology.

This recent patent awarded to Kount, US patent number 7,958,246, covers claims around uniquely identifying a set of services linked to a specific device through its use of the Domain Naming Service (DNS).

This is significant because device fingerprinting using DNS-based technology is a completely new way to identify and track activity, including attempted fraud. Unlike other methods, DNS-based device fingerprinting cannot be easily manipulated or blocked by the user, making it more difficult for fraudsters to mask themselves.

“We continue to drive innovation in our industry,” said Brad Wiskirchen, CEO of Kount. “This latest patent award is another validation of our ongoing commitment to increasing financial performance and reducing fraud throughout the transaction processing and payments ecosystem.”

According to Wiskirchen, the patented technology has many applications, including fraud detection for Internet and mobile commerce, managing access to content, new account screening, as well as advertising and promotional messaging.

Kount’s expanding portfolio of intellectual property includes numerous patents, both granted and pending, as well as important trade secret technologies that power Kount’s various solutions.

Kount delivers an all-in-one fraud and risk management platform for companies working in card-not-present environments looking to simplify their fraud/risk operations while dramatically improving bottom line results.
