ASIP Organizes Well-Known Trademark Conference 2012 in Amman

The Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the levels of awareness regarding Intellectual Property in the Arab region, will organize the first regional event of its kind "The Well-Known Trademark Conference 2012" to be held at the Amman Marriott Hotel April 25-26, 2012.

The Conference celebrates the World Intellectual Property Day April 26th will give an excellent opportunity for businesses to know more about their trademarks and how to protect them.

The event will also cover violation to trademarks, unfair competition, and litigation and domain names.

Established on February 23, 1987 in Munich, Germany under the name “Arab Society for the Protection of Industrial Property. About 142 founders from the Arab world attended the Society’s constituent meeting. The meeting was also attended by WIPO’s Director General, the Chairman of the European Patent Office and the Secretary General of the International Federation for the Protection of Industrial Property. Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh chaired the meeting during which the first Board of Directors was elected. This Board consisted of 10 members representing Kuwait, Egypt, Syria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Iraq.

ASIP aims at promoting and developing intellectual property protection in the Arab world, through the encouragement of the development and modernization of IP systems and the laws and regulations that govern them. ASIP is dedicated to the building of capacities and expertise among IP professionals and practitioners as well as enhancing awareness among the general public. Through the utilization of a number of tools in order to successfully achieve its objectives, by holding education programs, conferences, and seminars, research projects and studies.
