AMMAN - Under the patronage of the Head of the Jordanian Judicial Council, Ratib Alwazni, the Arab Federation for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (AFPIPR) celebrates the Arab Intellectual Property Day, which takes place on December 7.

The Egyptian General Secretary of Intellectual Property Eng. Talat Zayid, stated that the celebration is the first of its kind to be organized in Amman, and it came upon the recommendations of the Arab Economic Union Council, and in recognition of the prominent Jordanian role in the Intellectual Property (IP) field within the legislative and procedural environment present within the Kingdom that guarantees IP protection for all.

The former Minister of Finance, Sami Qamwah, head of the AFPIPR Council of Secretariats, Jordanian branch, affirmed that the celebration of this day in Amman is a reassurance of the Kingdom’s pioneering role and contribution in the protection of Intellectual Property, which takes a vast space in the Jordanian legal culture, and as an honor for the important role of the Jordanian economy and Jordanian citizens in this area.

Qamwah also expressed that the legislative, economic and security environment in Jordan has convinced the Federation in Cairo to choose Jordan as the only host country for an arbitration center specialized in conflicts relating to Intellectual Property. The celebration includes a scientific seminar at the Jordanian Bar Association, to which lawyers and other interested parties are invited, and which shall be chaired by the Head of the Jordanian Bar Association, Ahmad Tbeishat.

The celebration shall include the honoring of a group of pioneers in the Intellectual Property field, led by the former Egyptian minister, Dr. Ahmad Juweili, General Secretary of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, one of the most distinguished personalities in the Intellectual Property field, whose organization occupies a position of great repute in the Arab world and globally in the Intellectual Property field.
