USPTO Announces New Patent Fees

WASHINGTON - The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has announced on Saturday that it has adjusted certain patent fee amounts effective October 1, 2004 to reflect fluctuations in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

In its revision of patent fees for fiscal year 2005 and in a final rule, the USPTO declared that it has also adjusted by a corresponding amount a few patent fees that track the affected fees.

The USPTO Director is authorized to adjust these fees annually by the CPI to recover the higher costs associated with doing business.
