IRVINE, CA - Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear ranked third overall in the nation for strength of patent portfolios that it managed for clients in 2008, according to a recent analysis conducted by The Patent Board.
The results of the analysis reported in Intellectual Property Today magazine via their Patent Scorecard 2008 also ranked the firm number one in two key measurements of patent strength, Current Impact and Science Linkage. Current Impact indicates the extent to which others are building upon a portfolio of issued US utility patents as compared to the total set of utility patents. Science Linkage indicates the degree to which a portfolio or an individual patent is referencing scientific publications.
Of the more than 1,300 prosecuting law firms considered by The Patent Board when conducting its analysis, the firm ranked third for the total number of US utility patents they secured for clients during the past year. The 2008 rankings are based on data collected from September 2007 to August 2008.
In addition, Knobbe Martens was the only firm in the top ten to increase its ranking from the previous year, moving up from fourth in 2007 to its current ranking of third.
Knobbe Martens continues to be ranked as one of the top Intellectual Property (IP) litigation firms and has consistently ranked as one of the most active patent litigation firms in the United States. Earlier this year, the firm was recognized as the fifth largest IP firm in the United States and the second fastest growing IP firm in the US by Managing Intellectual Property magazine.
