TechWing Wins Two More Lawsuits Over Patent Disputation Aagainst Mirae

SEOUL - TechWing, one of the leading semiconductor test handler companies in the world, announced on Tuesday that they won two more lawsuits over patent disputation against Mirae again.

According to a press release by the company, the Patent Court of Korea ruled that TechWing did not violate Mirae’s patent in its device for adjusting the spacing of semiconductor device in tester. The Court also ruled that Mirae’s patent is invalidated because it did not have enough advancement to qualify as a patent.

In addition, the Patent Court ruled that Mirae’s second patent on their device for adjusting the distance of picker in burn-in test handler is still valid. However, the Court ruled in December 2005 that TechWing’s technology in its handler is different and irrelevant to Mirae’s patent, which means that TechWing can continue to use its technology in its handlers.

On the other hand, TechWing now has won four patent cases against Mirae to prove TechWing’s outstanding technology to public, including the biggest patent lawsuit for its transportation method for the test tray of horizontal handler on November 9, 2006. Now that the lawsuits against Mirae are under control, TechWing will go into sales more actively.

Jae Gyun Shim, president and CEO of TechWing, said, “We are considering taking action to raise a suit for damages against Mirae. The TechWing’s technology has been proved by this judgment. We will continue to develop and improve our technology to satisfy our valued customers in both domestic and international market.”
