AMMAN - A seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) for journalists will be held at the Dead Sea Resort on Thursday 24, 2006 to discuss Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) issues.
The seminar is organized by the Jordan National Library in cooperation with the Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and King Abdullah Center for Intellectual Property, according to Petra.
“The event aims at educating journalists on IPRs issues; including authorship rights, protection of creative activities, copyrights”, Director General of Jordan National Library Mamoun Al Talhouni said.
“Such seminars promote awareness in the IP field which contributes to eliminating all forms of IP piracy and setting up a favorable environment in the Kingdom that encourages creative work and prevent copyright violations,” he added.
Al Talhouni emphasized that the Library will carry out inspection campaigns in stores and bookshops selling audiovisual productions to ensure that authors’ rights are well protected.
